Our third shooting day was supposed to be the shortest, however, one of the most difficult ones as we had to build all the installations and work in the studio for the first time. The staff from the M Studios were kind to offer us a few days prior to our shooting day so we could take the installations and the material to the studio in advance, but we weren’t able to use that opportunity as everyone was really busy with preparing for the Media Frontiers final crit. In addition to that, some of the crew members couldn’t make it as their covid lateral flow tests were positive and they had to isolate while waiting for the PCR tests. Luckily, we still had three people (Veronika, Marta and me) who could come and which is the minimum number of people working in the film studio, still, none of the production designers could make it that day which meant we didn’t have any props, any material and had to improvise with what we could find in the university area. Instead of the clothing racks with hangers, we had to use one coat rack and put a sheer white fabric that Bethany allowed us to take from her Media Frontiers installation. We were moving it around and recording to create a stop-motion animation later in post-production. For this one, we also understood that we have to do some projection mapping but none of us had any previous experience in doing it practically so we had to try and do it straight away while using the trial version of MadMapper software. We also did some experiments with other installations and Sara could come to the studio before her flight to help us with one of them. Luckily, I managed to create some basic light animations prior to the shooting day so we could project them onto different materials for the installations and you can view them below.

We still can’t say if that shooting day was successful or not as it will only be clear during the editing process, however, we still did everything we could in such circumstances and I feel proud of our crew.
Below you can see some BTS photos and videos from that day:
